Our May Men's Program is scheduled for next Thursday May 10 from 7 to 9pm.
Introducing our May Men’s Program Guest Speaker; Layne Stretton
Layne lost his brother Nathan to suicide nearly 20 years ago. Because of this experience he is driven to support those who share his lived experience. Layne says, ‘the loss of my brother had profound and far reaching effects on many aspects of my life, leaving too many questions to be ignored’.
Since his brother’s death, Layne has experienced a growing sense of disquiet about the way society deals with all aspects of suicide and the profound impact that suicide has on individuals, families and communities. This has led to further exploration and personal development in the area of suicide prevention and a drive to use his skills to draw attention to this area.
Layne joined Roses in the Ocean about 4 years ago and has researched, developed and written much of the workshop content that increases the capacity of people with a lived experience of suicide to engage actively in suicide prevention within their communities.
At our May Men’s Program Layne will be sharing his experience and talking about the impact this has had on his life and how this led to the work he does with Roses in the Ocean.
