Lifeline have started a Suicide Bereavement Support Group in Coffs Harbour
The group is on the third Tuesday evening of each month, 6.30-8.00pm. Click on the picture for more info.

There's a new peer support group in the Macedon Ranges
There is a new monthly peer support group for people bereaved by suicide.
It meets every second Monday evening 7pm-8.30pm at the Newham Mechanics Institute, 1292 Rochford Road Newham (opposite the CFA).
It's a friendly and caring group of people who run this group so we recommend it. Next meeting: Monday 8 February.

Those who attended found it very helpful. He spoke about trauma, guilt, blame and sense of responsibility.

A new book on talking with children and young people about suicide
We have developed a new book which focusses on the issue of talking with children and young people about suicide. It's called Tell me what happened.
It has useful thoughts and ideas about how to approach what for many is very difficult; particularly telling children that someone has taken their own life.
It also has interviews with children, young people and parents with their thoughts on this issue.

When we were in Geelong recently we met the people behind a program on community radio in Geelong
Called Roads to Recovery, the program focusses on a range of issues related to mental health. Just before World Suicide Prevention Day this year they interviewed one of the riders, Kevin, who took part in the Pedal for Prevention ride from Geelong to Melbourne.

The Coffee Morning is on Wednesday morning this week in Melbourne.
This is an informal and relaxed morning for people bereaved by suicide. It is hosted by trained volunteers who have lost a loved one to suicide.
It is a time for receiving support, understanding and companionship in this difficult grief experience.
