There was a thoughtful and inspiring program on TV last night
It was the SBS program, Insight. The focus was male suicide. It was a men only audience with stories of pain, suicide attempts and bereavement. The program was trying to understand suicide and what would be helpful.
It was very well done.
Support After Suicide's Manager, Louise Flynn, appeared on ABC News Breakfast today talking about our work and our hope that the Federal Government will continue to fund the program.
Support After Suicide was the focus of a forum on The Conversation Hour with Jon Faine on 774 ABC

The University of New England is conducting research with adult members of farming families about their experience of loss.
It includes those who have lost someone to suicide and also other deaths such as homicide and accidental death.
Attached is more information about the research and who to contact if you would like to participate. Feel free to pass this on to others you think may be interested.
There's a well-written and powerful article on the mamamia website from a writer describing her experience of grief following the suicide of her close friend.

The interview was on the RRR program Aural Text. Rebecca and one of the project participants, Alex, speak about this new multimedia project to be launched by Prof Patrick McGorry next Tuesday 3 December.
The project is a book of written works and a series of short films based on the works - all created by people bereaved by suicide.

There's an article in The Age about an Albury family, following the suicide death of their daughter.
They have made efforts to break the silence around suicide and support others.

A recent radio program on the ABC's Radio National discussed suicide - prevention and bereavement
It was an interesting discussion including hearing from someone who has attempted suicide and someone who lost her brother to suicide.
The program is about half an hour and is a good discussion.

There is a good article in The Age newspaper by a woman whose brother died by suicide when she was a child.
One of the things she speaks about is the impact of not being told the truth about what happened.
